Day 17

Something you´re afraid of

Sharks...I saw Jaws way too many times when I was little and now I´m terrified!

Alligators...there´s a long personal story behind why, but I won´t bore you with it. Let´s just say I don´t like them!

Day 14

A picture that makes you laugh

I think the picture speaks for itself. I mean, really...how can you not at least smile at this picture? :-) It´s my crazy Dad in front of a restaurant that we went to down here in Mexico when they came to visit last April. Brings a smile to my face every time I see it :-)

Days 12 and 13

Man, I am such a slacker...I keep doing these double duty posts! Oh well :-) I´m actually sick today so I have some time on my hands to get this done.

Day 12: A picture of your most treasured item

I have a two way tie in this category between:

1. My wedding rings

2. A diamond ring and pearl necklace that were my grandma´s that she gave to me before she died.

Does an animal count as an ¨item¨? Haha, because my kitten Mona is definitely one of the most important ¨things¨ to me! :-)

Day 13: A place you´ve traveled to

Costa Rica! Pura Vida!!! :-)

I spent the summer of 2006 living with a family in San Jose, studying Spanish during the weeks, and traveling all around the country on the weekends. It was amazing! Costa Rica is an absolutely beautiful country! I would recommend it to anyone. It has so many things available to do. There are beaches, mountains, volcanoes, rain forests, eco activities, jungles, waterfalls, cities, shopping, white water rafting, surfing, fishing, zip lining, anything you want to do, you can probably find it in Costa Rica.

Days 10 and 11

Day 10: A picture of a person you´d love to trade places with for a day

I think it would be very cool to step into Oprah´s shoes for a day! She seems like just a great person and it would be fun to have all that money just for one day :-)

Day 11: Your favorite movies

My top three are: The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, and Grease but there are many, many more that I like! I love musicals, comedies, romance, war movies, horror movies, the list goes on and on!

Days 8 and 9

Double post, getting caught up!

Day 8: Picture of your favorite memory

I´m honestly not sure what my FAVORITE memory is, aside from my weddings and things from when I was really little, but this is from when two of my good friends came to visit us here in Mexico and we spent a week at the beach. We had a great time and made lots of good memories :-)

Day 9: Picture that makes you happy

This is a picture of one of my dogs, Ginger, who passed away on 5/24/10, RIP my Gingie poo. She was such a sweet, good dog and I miss her very much, but seeing this makes me remember all the good years we had together :-)

Day 7

My sibling

I just have one younger brother Michael. He is 23 and just got married January 1st, 2011 :-) He is a sweet guy, super athletic, smart, very sarcastic, likes to pick on me/tease me/give me a hard time, and a wonderful friend. I love him very much and couldn´t imagine not having my little Mikey, Miguel, hermanito, brother in my life <3

This is a very old picture of him. He looks so young! And cute :-) His hair is much shorter and darker now and he has more facial hair, but this is him in a nutshell!

Day 6

A picture of your favorite night

Obviously, my wedding :-) But lucky for me, we had two ceremonies, one in Mexico and one in the US, so I have two favorite nights!

Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico 12/12/2009

Day 5

My Parents

For all those who don´t know Brinkley and Toni McArver, prepare yourselves! Haha :-) Actually, my mom is quite sane, calm, and normal, my dad on the other hand...well, there just aren´t words for him!

My mom is so sweet and friendly, she will make friends with anyone and talk to them. She is a little on the quiet and reserved side, most of the time calm, until she gets mad. Then watch out! She is an elementary school PE teacher and needless to say, is in great shape! Lots of people have commented that she looks more like my sister than my mom :-) She has a huge heart and wears her emotions on her sleeve (that´s where I get it from). She is always going out of her way to help others and she would do anything for someone in need. Growing up, she was the stricter one and my dad was a little more mellow about things. She is supersmart too and always has great advice to offer. She is the best mom anyone could ever ask for and I love her very much. I hope I can be half the mom she is one day <3

My dad...where to I begin? I think you have to meet Brinkley to understand, but here goes...My dad is the funniest, silliest, goofiest guy I have ever met! (Aside from my husband!) We like to say that he is a 10 year old stuck in a 50 year old´s body. He is definitely young at heart. He is always laughing, joking around and doing anything he can to make others laugh and smile :-) He is the life of the party. He can be wild and crazy sometimes too! He loves to play sports and I think they help keep him young. He is in excellent shape too! He is a financial wizard (he´s an accountant) and any time I need any help with money or have any questions, he is my go to man. I trust him completely with all of my money. He is great with it and makes more money for me by investing it in stocks, etc. He does have a serious side, though it only comes out when necessary. He is the best dad in the world and I love him so much! <3

Here they are, the best parents in the world! Have I mentioned that they have been married for 30 years? <3 them!!!

Day 4

A picture of the cast from your favorite TV show

Again, I couldn´t pick just one, so here we go!

Big Bang Theory

How I Met Your Mother

Law and Order: SVU

Modern Family

One Tree Hill

Vampire Diaries

(And yes, they are in alphabetical order...I told you I had slight OCD!)

Day 3

Meaning behind your blog name

Well, obviously Casanova is our last name. I chose Clan because it also starts with a C and because I hope to one day have a few children to add to our family and then we will be a clan. That´s it. Pretty simple, huh? :-)

Happy Monday everyone!

Day 2

2nd day of the blog challenge: a picture of you and the person you have been the closest with the longest

Obviously, my family comes first :-) I have been close to my mom, dad, and brother all my life (which, in 2 more weeks, will be 25 years!)

After my family, I do have a few friends that I have known for many years and been close to for a long time. Here are some of them:

Ashley and Ginger: I have been friends with them since Lord knows when...we grew up together at the same church :-)

Liza: another good friend from church who also grew up with me in the same neighborhood

Kara: my roommate from college and my sister from another mother :-)

LeAnn: my best friend from high school

And last, but not least, Emily: my best friend here in Mexico

(Yeah, I know. I was just supposed to pick one person, but that´s impossible for me. So I changed it. I make my own rules. That´s how I roll. Haha)

Blog Challenge

One of my New Year´s resolutions was to write more often in my blog. I have found several different 30 day challenges where you post something every day for a month. But I´ve decided to combine some of them, create my own challenge, and try to post something every day for as long as I have material (at least a month, minimum). So, today will be the start of more frequent blogging :-)

Day 1: Post a picture of yourself and 15 interesting facts.

1. I´m claustrophobic. Not majorly, but sometimes in elevators, big crowds, and places with no windows I get very nervous!

2. I have been snow-skiing since I was 5. Although in all honesty, I haven´t been in a few years...

3. I am slighty OCD, which means I´m super organized, have a place for everything, and like everything in it´s place. I have a special way to wash the dishes, make the bed, organize the refrigerator, etc.

4. I love cheesy, trashy, reality TV shows. Currently digging the new Bachelor season.

5. Sometimes I treat my kitten like she´s human. But I think all animal lovers/pet owners do this :-)

6. I was due to be born on Valentine´s Day but decided to come 13 days early. Typical me. Can´t wait for anything, haha

7. I can remember song lyrics from years ago, but not what I ate for lunch yesterday.

8. I can pop my hip out of joint. Not sure if that means double jointed, because I can´t do anything crazy with any other joints...

9. I have been living here in Mexico for 2.5 years and love it. Yet miss my hometown every single day too.

10. I work less than 20 hours a week, yet am so happy and fulfilled with my job, I wouldn´t change a thing.

11. I bought my first house when I was only 20. I´m currently renting it while I´m out of the country.

12. I don´t like to tie and untie my shoelaces. So I just leave them tied and slip them on and off. You call it lazy, I call it non-time wasting :-)

13. I can sing alto and soprano.

14. When I was little, I used to think that the Big Bad Wolf lived under my bed, so I used to sleep in my closet on the floor. (True story. Don´t worry, it was a walk-in closet!)

15. I have never tried marajuana. Nor will I ever.

That´s all for today, keep checking back for more frequent updates! :-) Thanks

Home for the Holidays

Abe and I just returned to Mexico on Wednesday night after spending almost three weeks back home in South Carolina, USA for the holidays. We had an amazing trip! It was so much fun getting to spend time with family and friends, see people I haven´t seen in a long time, and celebrate many events! We especially enjoyed being a part of my brother´s wedding on 1/1/11! I have missed my family, friends and home so much, so it felt great being back there. I´m ready to go back! Haha We stayed pretty busy while we were there, as December is a big month full of celebrations. Here are the events from December to January for us:

Dec. 6- My Mom and Dad´s Anniversary
Dec. 12- Our anniversary of the Mexico ceremony
Dec. 22- Abe´s Birthday
Dec. 24- Christmas Eve
Dec. 25- Christmas Day
Dec. 29- Our anniversary of the USA ceremony
Dec. 30- My brother´s birthday
Dec. 31- New Year´s Eve
Jan. 1- My brother and sister-in-law´s wedding!

Needless to say, we were go, go, go, while we were back home! Another fun thing, Abe experienced fresh falling snow for the first time in his life when we were at my grandmother´s house in North Carolina :-) Here are some pictures from our trip.
